School of business and AACSB

School of business, working on becoming accredited by Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business or AACSB.

AACSB an international accreditation symbolizes the highest standard of accomplishment for business schools, worldwide. The main purpose is to show that the institution confirms their pledge to quality and continuous improvement through meticulous and comprehensive peer review. AACSB has a high standard of excellence in management education according to www.aacsb.edu.

“Only about 5 percent of all school of business hold the elite title,” said Dr. Hector Quintanilla, schools of business dean. Some surrounding schools already have their accreditation. “Schools like University of North Texas and University of Texas at Arlington are AACSB. We want Wesleyan to join this prestige level”.

Quintanilla said “AACSB would enhance the look of the school. The school would be on an international level. It would allow students from other countries to attend [Texas Wesleyan]. It would also allow them to transfer credit hours from their current school to Wesleyan”

“I think that this is a great opportunity for Texas Wesleyan’s school of business to take advantage of becoming accredited,” said Lauren Bell, senior business major. “As a soon- to-be graduate; I am very pleased with the education that I have received. I believe that Wesleyan is one of the finest institutions and getting accreditation will not be the basis of the high standards of business education for Wesleyan; instead it will show the high educational standards that Wesleyan has always held for their students prior to this accreditation process.”
